Leonard Joel, Australia’s premier auction house, is excited to announce a major relocation of its national headquarters and Melbourne saleroom to larger gallery showrooms in Hawthorn. Leonard Joel will be moving from its current location at 333 Malvern Road, South Yarra, to 1A Oxley Road, Hawthorn, later in 2023.
The new location will boast approximately 2,000 square metres of space, with large galleries and auction rooms allowing for an expansion and enhancement of its Fine businesses. It will also feature modern specialist offices and client rooms that will allow Leonard Joel to enhance its online experience even further and streamline its operations.
“We are extremely happy and excited to relocate our national Leonard Joel headquarters and Melbourne saleroom to this new location in Hawthorn” said Chairman and Head of Important Collections, John Albrecht. “The vision is to create a fearlessly contemporary space that will allow us to deliver the most dynamic live and virtual auction experience in the country. With the digital marketplace accounting for more than half of the total sales in the previous financial year, we are continually looking to embrace new digital technologies to complement our traditional auction models, empowering our community of collectors and aesthetes to discover, acquire and consign fine art, jewellery, and decorative interiors from anywhere in the world.”
Leonard Joel will collaborate with renowned interior design firm Studio Doherty to create state-of-the-art gallery spaces and auction rooms. “We are especially pleased that this is a new building with room to grow and where we can bring the past and present together. We look forward to this exciting new chapter in our 104-year history and to welcoming everyone to the new space later this year”, John Albrecht said.
