You will need to register to bid for an item and this can be done in person, online, by fax or over the phone.
There are four simple ways to bid at Leonard Joel:
1.In person – once registered you will be given a numbered bidding paddle which you simply raise in the air for the auctioneer to see.
2.Absentee Bid – Submit a confidential bid at least 60 minutes prior to the auction and a representative will bid on your behalf and obtain the item at the lowest price possible within your bidding limit. You can submit an absentee bid via the website, by fax, over the phone or in person. Leonard Joel guarantees to execute absentee bids for the lowest possible price*. We do not start the bidding at your absentee bid unless there is another bid immediately below yours. *Please note that bids left on “no reserve” lots or lots where the reserve is below the low estimate will, in the absence of a higher bid, be executed at the low estimate.
3.Telephone bidding – Similar to absentee bidding, you can register to bid via telephone with a Leonard Joel staff member. We will call you just before the lot comes up for sale and guide you through what is happening in the saleroom and place your bids as requested. The telephone bidding form can be downloaded here. Telephone bidding is free of charge in major auctions and fee-based in our weekly auction.
4.Live online bidding: You can also bid for lots live which enables you to bid in real time from the comfort of your home or office. Please note that this service incurs a 5% surcharge on lots purchased.
