Last year, Leonard Joel hosted two of the most significant single-owner collections of sporting memorabilia in Australia – the personal collection of AFL legend Ron Barassi, which was acquired by a single owner prior to auction, and the Martin Sheppard collection of Olympic Memorabilia in December. Max Williamson


We are delighted to announce the appointment of Max Williamson as Head of Sporting Memorabilia at Leonard Joel.
With over 25 years experience, Max is one of the most respected and knowledgeable experts in his field. Some of the more famous items he has sold at auction include Bradman’s 1936-37 Australian Test Blazer, the 1949 Melbourne Cup, the most extensive private collection of Phar Lap memorabilia as well as the private collections of Olympian Shirley Strickland and AFL giants Greg Williams, Royce Hart and Alex Jesaulenko MBE.
Max’s appointment comes a year after Leonard Joel was entrusted with The Ron Barassi Collection, which was successfully sold to Paul Little for public benefit prior to auction. 
Max will focus on establishing a new series of auctions, the first of which will take place towards the end of this year.
