Paolo Buffa (1903 – 1970) was an Italian architect and furniture designer known for his elegant and sophisticated designs. After graduating from the Politecnico di Milano in the late 1920s, Buffa briefly worked for architect Gio Ponti before branching out on his own.

In 1928 Ponti’s newly launched design magazine Domus featured a full-page spread on Buffa’s rosewood dressing table, praising it as “elegant and solid.”

Buffa’s furniture designs often featured luxurious materials such as rosewood, walnut, mahogany, and brass, combined with plush fabrics like velvet and silk. He was known for his attention to detail and his ability to create furniture that was both timeless and modern.

Buffa became known for his distinctive style that combined classical revival, traditional Italian craftsmanship and modernist aesthetics.

In addition to furniture design, Buffa also designed interiors, carpets, lighting, and even an espresso machine.
